We will always stay true to allocating 10c of each jar purchased to missions which support foster and orphaned children, but as of November 1, 2015, we are shifting from our prior focus with 147 Million Orphans to Case for Kids, based out of Tracy, CA.

We have loved giving the money we set aside to 147 Million Orphans. I am still a strong believer in their organization and what they are doing, but during these past several months, it has been on my heart to work with a local non-profit who helps children in the foster care system.

If you have read our August 2015 HERLife cover story or followed our adoption journey, then you know that our daughter came from the foster care system.

Part of giving back, for me, has always meant more than just the money. Being able to give even nominal amounts (10c per jar) has meant a lot, considering the fact that A Loving Spoon nut butters is still in an infancy stage. But being able to “get my hands dirty” and contribute in other ways – volunteering time, etc. – is what I believe is the right thing to do, personally and professionally.

It was always my intention to give back to children who might never know the life our daughter, and our future children, will know. Touching their lives in even a small way helps me know that my life and this business is truly worth it.

Case for Kids

Case For Kids is a nonprofit organization that will donate a personalized case to children in foster care into homes. Custom cases with each child’s first name will be packed with new clothes, homemade blanket, sheet set, toiletry items, stuffed animal, and an age appropriate Christian book for each child.

I met Lori Souza, founder of Case for Kids, a few years back. I watched as she started and grew her non-profit to help get foster children the things they needed. I was inspired, and I always wanted to be a part of what she was doing.

Here are some of the other things (in addition to the custom cases) Lori does with Case for Kids:

10c of each jar purchased (online or at one of our retail partners) will go to Case for Kids beginning on November 1, 2015. We will participate in and have our nut butters for sale at local events like the upcoming Holiday Boutique where we will pay the vendor fee (to help support the organization), give a donation gift basket and have product available for sale, which ultimately will give back to the organization as well.

I will work with Lori to volunteer as often as possible for other events and special projects. As Samarah ((and our other child(ren)) get older + even now (!), they will volunteer with me as well.

At the end of the day, we stand proud behind our motto of….
