Our new flavor is, “Honey Roasted Peanut Butter with a touch of Fleur de Sel.”
We have been getting several questions around, “What is Fleur de Sel?” So we thought we’d share a little information about it with you!
But first: We care a lot about the ingredients used. It’s one thing that truly sets us apart from other snack and dessert-based nut butters. In fact, many recommend that we should find the ingredients we want to use and source a lesser-quality one in order to cut costs. For us, this just means cutting corners and not staying true to our core values around providing a superior product.
Choosing to upgrade with a Fleur de Sel was a carefully crafted decision because if you have ever read about various salts, you know that it has a much higher price point. According to Real Simple Magazine, it is “a special-occasion” salt.
Life is a special occasion….or so we think!
According to the Wikipedia,
Fleur de sel (“flower of salt” in French; French pronunciation: [flœʁ də sɛl]), flor de sal (in Portuguese), or flor de sal (in Spanish and Catalan) is a hand-harvested sea salt collected by workers who scrape only the top layer of salt before it sinks to the bottom of large salt pans.
Fleur de Sel is unprocessed, unrefined, and unadulterated. It does not contain anti-caking or anti-flowing agents. It is known as the “Caviar of Salts“.
Fleur de Sel is a larger crystal than, say, kosher or sea salt, which doesn’t make it better or worse, but different. It adds a beautiful finish to various dishes and (mostly) to desserts where top chefs like to use it.
The Fleur de Sel we have sourced is natural and kosher certified. They believe that, “not all salts are created equal.“
We’d have to agree.
Currently, both our Purely Cacao Peanut Butter + Honey Roasted Peanut Butter with a touch of Fleur de Sel use the Fleur de Sel.
We hope you are enjoying it as much as we are.
